Bus driver's van accident claim is finally settled

A van insurance company has had to pay out £250,000 to settle the personal injury claim of a bus driver whose bus collided head-on with a Mercedes commercial vehicle on a Northumberland road.

The legal team representing the bus driver succeeded in getting the van insurance specialist to settle the 60-year-old's case.

The claimant described the settlement as "consolation". "I feel lucky to be alive really. You can't put a price on an injury like that, but it's some consolation," he said.

"I was planning to work until I was 65, but that's been cut short."

Although the man was pleased to finally receive settlement, it has taken two years of negotiations between his personal injury solicitor and the relevant van insurance company to achieve a satisfactory outcome. Sadly, the claimant "will never be able to return to the job he loved".
