Organizers cancel 2009's Commercial Vehicle Show

Van insurance policyholders who were thinking about doing some scouting for a new van at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham this April will now have to make other plans after the organizers said they will be cancelling this year's event.

Although the event, which was due to be held between April 18 and April 30 at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, has long been pencilled in the diaries of many van insurance customers in the UK, the organizers say that impending economic recession meant it had to be called off.

Nigel Emms, the show's committee chairman, commented, "This is of course disappointing, but given the current economic climate and the uncertainty created, it is the only decision we could make."

While Roger King, from the Road Haulage Association, made the following quote, "This was a difficult decision but, on balance, the right one. What we learned from this exercise was that despite a generally negative response to 2009, there appears a much more positive approach to 2010 which encourages the Partnership to set plans in motion for a show in April of that year".

Fortunately, those van insurance customers who have already purchased tickets have been told that they will receive a full refund.
