Chicken owner and plumber might have Astra van insurance

A man from Ceredigion near Aberystwyth in Wales, who might have Astra van insurance, was surprised by a stowaway in his vehicle on his way to work.

The plumber, who also keeps chickens at his home with help from his wife, was driving to a plumbing job when he heard a strange noise.

"My van is quite old and makes a few noises, but I could here this rustling sound behind my head in the rear of the van that I hadn't heard before," he stated.

Upon investigating he was surprised to find that one of his 30 chickens had hidden in the van and that "underneath her was an egg, so she must have felt calm and relaxed".

The chicken, named Korma, was new to the flock of poultry. None of them had been hand-reared and the van driver and his wife do not keep them as pets, however, Korma has taken an unusual liking to her owner and follows him whenever she has the opportunity.

"I might be sitting outside with [my wife] having a glass of wine, and Korma will come and sit on my legs," he said.

The couple find Korma's affectionate nature amusing, but the business van insurance holders will need to keep a close eye on her in the future.

"I didn't see her go in, but I'd left the van's sliding door open while I loaded it and she must have slipped aboard."

The make of the van has not been reported but all van owners, including Astra van insurance holders, should react in the same way as this plumber if they hear any unusual sounds in their vehicle and investigate them quickly so as to avoid any eggstraodinary circumstances.
