Man with Astra van insurance involved in head-on collision

A driver who was in a front-end collision near Derby was lucky that he was travelling with Astra van insurance.

The van driver's vehicle was left with extensive front end damage, however, the accident was not the man's fault and so he may still be able to receive a good quote on business van insurance in the future.

The accident occurred when the driver from another car became unconscious behind the wheel.

Witnesses have described seeing the vehicle veer out of control after it went through traffic lights on the A444, Woodland Road in Stanford.

The car was reportedly seen pulling into the wrong lane and careering into a kerb before pulling back and hitting the opposite one as well. The Astra van was not the only vehicle damaged as another car was involved in the collision despite its driver having pulled over to the pavement in an effort to avoid the vehicle.

One witness stated, "When I first saw the car I thought it was one of these tear away youngsters overtaking everyone but as it got closer I saw the driver's head slumped to one side."

The driver whose car was hit on the roadside apparently said that the fact his car was involved was probably fortunate as it may have taken some of the impact away from the subsequent head-on collision with the van.

The driver of the van suffered minor injuries, such as bruising of the arms, and was airlifted to a nearby hospital but hopefully having Astra van insurance will give him peace of mind about the state of his vehicle.

The unconscious driver suffered whiplash and an injury to his shoulder. Hospital staff were trying to determine what caused him to experience the period of unconsciousness.
