Windsceen repairs on cheap van insurance more difficult now

The Chesterfield windscreen repair and replacement company, Auto Windscreens, has gone into administration. Cheap van insurance holders may soon have to look elsewhere for a firm to repair cracks and chips as 1,154 employees at the firm may soon face redundancy.

This is huge news for drivers around the UK as Auto Windscreens was one of the biggest windscreen and repair firms in the country, second only to Autoglass.

Suggested reasons for the company's demise are poor cash flow, as well as lower than expected revenue towards the end of 2010. Although there have not yet been any redundancies, a large bulk of the workforce has been sent home, and a number of the company's clients are being told that many services will cease immediately.

The nail in the coffin for Auto Windscreens came when a major customer decided to end their contract. The administration team is now conducting urgent discussions with interested parties in an attempt to rescue the business.

Administrator, Matt Cowlishaw, said, "It is extremely disappointing to see such a well known business enter administration. The company worked extremely hard to try and capitalise the business, but unfortunately this could not be achieved in the time available".

Individuals with cheap van insurance, small business van insurance, and all other customers of Auto Windscreens, could soon be searching elsewhere to find a company who can fix tell-tale signs of windscreen damage and carry out complete replacement.
