Crack of light threatens to destroy builder's bum cliché

A survey of 3,000 cheap van insurance hopefuls has revealed that the infamous “builder’s bum” may be about to become a thing of the past.

Perhaps inspired by the trend for high profile sports stars such as David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to endorse designer underwear, the cheap van insurance customer survey found that 71% of commercial vehicle drivers bought underwear made by chic brands like Calvin Klein, Armani, and Dolce and Gabbana.

The survey, commissioned by a motor insurance company, also found that the ghost of the builder’s bum cliché looms large in the minds of many drivers; 53% said they felt worried about baring backside while performing work.

And, in keeping with the results of other recent surveys that show an increasingly health-conscious van-driving public, 21% said they go to the gym in order to ensure they retain a perky posterior.

However, 3% of drivers have no such callipygian concerns, saying they never wear any underwear at all.

One of the cheap van insurance specialists behind the survey commented, "The builder's bum is the butt of many a joke, but it appears that many van drivers are starting to take the matter more seriously."
