Van driver working long hours

A recent survey of commercial van insurance policyholders has found that 59% work over 50 hours a week. Amazingly, 23% owned up to working more than 60% a week.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the commercial van insurance customers surveyed said that they worked extra hours in order to try and counteract economic pressures of the recession.

"Van drivers are cramming more hours of work into each day than ever before to keep businesses afloat during the recession. In some cases, many people are working through the weekend too, just to help make ends meet," commented a spokesperson from the commercial van insurance company behind the research.

"Any driver who feels tired while driving should pull over in a safe place and get some rest until they feel fit to continue the journey safely," he advised.

1,000 van drivers participated in the survey.
