Compare van insurance to protect from theft-related damage

It might be well worth van owners' time to compare van insurance and make sure that the type of cover they get protects them from any damage done to their van through theft.

A leading authority on white van insurance has discovered, in a recent survey undertaken after Christmas 2010, that 13% of the 1,200 van owners used in the study had been victims of theft when their new tools bought for them as Christmas gifts were stolen from their vans.

As well as losing the new tools, which cost money to replace, they also found their van had suffered damage from crowbars used by the thieves to open the van doors and get to the storage area.

Van insurance experts suggest that, in order to reduce the risk of having tools stolen, van drivers should lock their van in a secure garage overnight if possible, and remove the tools from the van over night also.

Van drivers could also try to deter thieves by using a no tools left in van over night sticker, which can be purchased at retailers such as Halfords.

By following these three tips, the hope is that van owners who rely on their tools and van for their trade, do not find themselves the victim of theft-related vehicle damage.

Van drivers are reminded that if they compare van insurance terms and deals offered, they may not need to be as concerned by the possibility of damage which might be caused, if they have chosen a van insurance policy which protects against it.
