A driver from Cambridgeshire is likely to be making a claim on his Ford van insurance after an incident on the A14, involving his commercial vehicle which left the road and surrounding area gridlocked amid safety fears.
The Ford van insurance holder had been transporting goods, including a consignment of office furniture on the westbound carriageway near junction 38 when an as yet unknown incident caused it to ignite into flames on the hard shoulder.
Emergency service workers were called to the scene of the road accident and fire service crew had to wear oxygen masks while battling the flames.
Fortunately, police report that no one suffered injury in the accident.
However, it is likely that the driver of the transit van will be needing to make a claim on his Ford van insurance, with the need for a replacement vehicle sure to be high on his list of priorities.
A spokesperson from iVan, the van-only insurance specialist, comments, "Judging by reports of the incident it is extremely lucky that no-one suffered injury.
"Such near-misses can serve as a useful reminder of the need for drivers to have adequate cover for their vans, otherwise lost hours and repair bills can take their toll."
