A high number of businesses sought any driver van insurance during October as a result of the strong rise in new van registrations during the month.
According to one provider of commercial vehicle cover, 21,305 vans were registered in October, up by 8.7% on September's levels and 18.8% higher than the same month in 2009.
Although it is uncertain how many owners applied for any driver van insurance, the fact that such a flexible policy is useful to many businesses has led experts to speculate that it is likely that businesses bought a large number of these policies.
October's rise in registrations marks the ninth consecutive month that there has been growth in the commercial vehicle sector.
Naturally, such growth is beneficial to a wide range of economic sectors, not least to both fleet owners and providers of any driver van insurance.
A spokesperson for one insurer comments, "It's great to see the van industry recovering from the recession with continued growth, as this can have a positive impact on other industries including insurance."
