London's piping could make work for plumbers and their vans

Plumbers van insurance may be a useful commodity during the next 15 months.

Thames Water is going to be replacing 6 miles of water pipes, along the upper and lower Edmonton area in London, and there could be problems in people's homes radiating from the work.

On top of the potential problems with house plumbing, there are likely to be large disruptions to traffic in the area spelling traffic jams and diversions for drivers.

Business van insurance holders might find it difficult to get to some of their jobs, but Thames Water and Enfield council will be working together to keep the disturbance to a minimum.

The work is going to cost £2.5 million but the renovation is necessary.

The Thames Water project manager, Kathryn Moore said that, "Ideally we wouldn't have to do this work at all but the fact is that London's water pipes are old and leaky and need replacing."

Much of London's piping is still in place from Victorian times and varies from being 100 to 150 years old. The Victorian cast-iron pipes have to be replaced with new plastic ones.

London's population growth and rising demand for water, factoring in changes in climate, has created a need for better piping. Once the mains pipes have been changed plumbers van insurance holders may find their job has been made easier by the modernised piping.
