There are encouraging signs that UK van production may be on the up and that really cheap van insurance for new vans could soon be in demand again.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has released figures detailing how production of commercial vehicles in the UK grew by 47.1% in October compared to the same figures for 2009.
This means that vehicle production for 2010 has now reached 103,201, already surpassing 2009's measly 90,679.
However, with most drivers choosing to hang on to their existing vans or purchase a secondhand one, insurance companies report that they are handing out relatively few really cheap van insurance quotes for new vans.
As such, the SMMT has called for the government to look closely at the issues affecting new vehicle production. A spokesperson comments, "It is extremely important that government continues to champion the role of vehicle manufacturing in rebalancing the national economy and works with the automotive industry to create conditions for increased investment in R&D, skills and capital equipment."
A spokesperson with iVan, the really cheap van insurance quote comparison specialist comments, "Given the pressures facing van drivers and fleet owners, such as increased running costs and higher taxes, it is unsurprising that the sales and productions of new vehicles should be down."
