At last, there appears to be some answers after the RAC revealed that a disproportionate number of young drivers are convicted of dangerous driving.
Unfortunately, as well as risking the road safety of others and increasing the cost of their own motor insurance cover, these drivers have a damaging impact on all other young motorists, including younger owners of commercial vehicles such as Ford Transits, who face hikes in the cost of their van insurance for young drivers as a result.
The same RAC disclosure revealed that young men account for the overwhelming majority of dangerous driving convictions, a staggering 95%.
In the past this would have spelled bad news for younger men hoping to secure cheap van insurance for young drivers – however in light of a recent European Court of Justice ruling which outlawed discriminating between policyholders on the basis of gender, this statistic is likely to have little impact on young men specifically.
