The Hampshire spray tan van is believed to be the first to be seen in Britain and used to be a standard vehicle, before having £18,000 spent on it to transform its interior.
With a sofa in the waiting room and a cubicle out of the way of prying eyes for clients, not to mention heaters so that the mobile salon is nicely warmed, the 33-year-old's tans may prove to be very popular at £18 to £25 a time and the promise of "no orange".
Making the rounds stopping at business parks and industrial estates in the area, the pioneering beautician offers workers a 15-minute spray tan which they can easily fit into their lunch breaks.
For the creator of the spray tan van, having her salon on wheels is saving her money. She said,"I have never wanted my own salon because you are then faced with business rates. With the van, I only have general running costs".
She has even extended her tan van business to offer "tanning parties" for women who are preparing for a special event, such as a wedding, and wish to have a healthy glow.
With trade going well and no business rates to deal with, if the beautician also has really cheap van insurance, she could make a lot of money and not have to spend so much of it in running costs. Maybe Britain will see more original van-based businesses appear in 2011.
