A Hungarian lorry driver has been charged in connection with a fatal van accident that took place early on Tuesday on the A595 at Newby Cross.
The lorry driver's arctic was in collision with a Ford Transit van, being driven by a 49-year-old male who was killed in the traffic accident. His 21-year-old passenger however managed to escape the crash with relatively minor injuries.
The lorry driver was arrested at the scene and later charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The 46-year-old man will appear before magistrates in Carlisle later this week for his part in the van accident.
It has not been reported whether a van accident claim will be made against the lorry driver by the van driver's relatives.
