White van man goes all new-age

A survey by a commercial vehicle insurance company has revealed that the stereotype of the typical "white van" insurance customer is fast losing currency in the real world.

According to the poll of more than 1,000 van insurance customers, only 8% eat the stereotypical "white van man" morning fry-up, with 44% favouring the healthier option of a breakfast cereal.

It also seems that, just as increasing numbers are getting savvier about finding cheap quotes for van cover, van drivers are becoming more techno-savvy, with 8% having iPhones and 4% using Blackberry.

There has also been a shift in the holidaymaking habits of van drivers; although European holidays are still favoured by many, more and more are crossing continents to visit countries such as Thailand, Australia and America.

It seems the image of the perennially pint-thirsty van man is also unjustified - going to the pub is not even rated in the top ten ways of spending leisure time; top of the list was spending time with the family, followed by listening to music and keeping fit.

The conception of "cosmopolitan van man" is further underlined by the growing band of van drivers who choose to seek their van insurance quotes online.
