Van drivers treasure no claims bonus

Van insurance customers are some of the lowest risk policyholders in the country, according to a study commissioned by one of the UK's leading providers of commercial, fleet and private van insurance.

According to the study, around seven in ten van drivers would rather pay for minor repairs than jeopardise their no claims bonus. And it seems that, for many, aesthetic considerations give way to good economy; around one-third said that they would rather leave a small scratch or dent on their van than make an "unnecessary" claim.

In contrast to van drivers, car drivers showed themselves to have the least financial foresight, as they were the motoring group most likely to make a claim for minor and superficial damage.

A spokesperson with the van insurance company commented, "We would advise van drivers to carry out all necessary repairs. If they don't want to lose their no claims discount, then paying up front is one way to do this while ensuring that their vehicle remains road safe."
