Sir Bobby Moore top with van drivers

In a result that few would be able to argue against, van insurance customers have voted the late Sir Bobby Moore England's all-time greatest footballer.

Moore, the former West Ham defender and so far the only man ever to captain England to World Cup glory, came in first with more than one-quarter of the vote.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his goal-scoring feats and participation in the all-conquering '66 England team, Bobby Charlton, England's all-time record scorer was the second choice of van insurance policyholders.

David Beckham, global pin-up and holder of the record number of caps for an England outfielder, came in third, while the only current member of the England squad to make the top ten was the Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, who just scraped into the list at 10 with 2% of the vote.

A spokesperson with the van insurance company which organised the poll of commercial vehicle drivers commented, "Bobby Moore was a great player for England and played a vital role in 1966 when they won the World Cup so it's no surprise he topped our van drivers' poll. Let's hope our current team can recreate the 1966 glory this year in South Africa."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson with van-only motor insurance specialist iVan commented, "Let's hope that, come the end of the summer, Rooney tops this list, because it would certainly mean that the team will have done England proud."
