Mercedes Sprinter takes UK top spot

Swinton Commercial van insurance has found that Ford's very successful Transit van has been knocked off the top spot, and it looks like sprinter van insurance may be about to get more popular.

The annual poll organised by Swinton Commercial's, which looks at the most popular makes of van, shows that the Mercedes Sprinter has now overtaken the Ford Transit as the UK's favourite.

The poll results were:

• Mercedes Sprinter at 31%
• Ford Transit at 26%
• Ford Courier at 21%
• Vauxhall Transporter at 16%
• Renault Traffic Panel at 6%

Interestingly the poll also shows that 19% of van drivers would be happy to purchase an electric van to use as their work van if the sale price was competitive compared with other types of van on the market at the moment.

The number of Transit Van insurance quotes could fall, while Sprinter Van insurance quotes may see a rise, and in the future, electric van insurance may gain popularity giving hope for a green future.
