The DVLA have issued a warning to the public stating that they are aware of a email being circulated under the guise of the DVLA and that it contains a virus.

An email claiming to be from the DVLA has been received by members of the public, the contents of which asks for Direct Debit details for a vehicle to be completed on the attached Word document, which contains a virus.

The DVLA do not send Word documents when confirming Direct Debit payments and are advising anyone who receives the email or similar not to open it and delete the email.

To ensure that you are dealing with the DVLA correctly use the GOV.UK website when making vehicle tax or driving license transactions.
