UK van sales have been heading upwards for several months now.

In June van registrations showed an increase of 16.4 per cent to 35,742 units, helping to produce the best year-to-date figures of 108,404 than previous years - an increase on 19.8 per cent.

Mike Hawes SMMT Chief Executive has stated, "Registrations of vans have been increasing strongly for some time, underpinned by economic confidence among large and small businesses, as well as the growing trend for home deliveries,"

Hawes also added, "The significant rise in truck registrations in June mirrors the sector’s performance in the year so far as it readjusts from the regulatory changes of 2014, while once again it was the heavier vehicles in van, arctic and rigid segments that posted the largest rises."

Ford have continued to be the main van market leader with 9,787 vehicles registered in June, giving the commercial vehicle manufacturer 27.4 per cent of the market, where Volkswagen only had 4,444 registrations (12.4 per cent), Vauxhall 4,123 registrations (11.5 per cent) and Mercedes 3,645, Citroen 2,753 and Peugeot 2,642 registrations holding 10.2 percent, 7.7 per cent and 7.39 per cent respectively.
